Balance Structure

In teams students were given a random piece of polystyrene to decorate. We wanted their art to reflect their interests and our Hub as a group. When that was finished the challenge was to create a balanced sculpture within 1 minute! Watch all our groups create (sometimes destroy) works of fine art in the videos above. We have a semi-permanent sculpture that is held together with toothpicks. Students will have the opportunity to create their own unique sculpture for display throughout the year.

  1. Kia Ora Kahikatea hub, we are Tawhirimatea class of Makaraka School. All our classes are named after Atua. We are a year 5/6 class in a small 130 student country school. It looks like you have a science focus this term! So do we. We have our school Science Fair at the end of the term. At the moment we are looking at navigating using stars and why constellations were important. It is nearly Matariki so we will look at the importance of this festival as well. We are looking forward to getting to know you all and blogging with you. From Mrs Hall and Tawhirimatea!
