Term 3, week 4....start of lockdown

What a crazy week it has been! After only two days of school this week we went back into level 4 lockdown...again!!! Teachers and students are getting used to online learning again and working from home.

During these last few days whaea Sharlee and whaea Tamzin challenge the students to make a "Keeping active during lockdown diary". In this diary students will be adding photos or videos of them being active during lockdown, this could be something as simple as going for a walk with their family. Here are a couple of sneak peak screenshots of some students from Kahikatea Hub keeping active so far.

Students have also been encouraged to cook and bake during lockdown with their whanau. If they make anything students have been asked to email photos and recipes to their teacher for a ako whanu cookbook. Here are some sneak peak photos from ako whanau whaea Tamzin.

We hope everyone is stay safe over lockdown!

Term 3, week 3

During this week Kahikatea Hub has some students from ako whanau Mrs Jain on Thursday. We also caught up with Room 17 again and our senior students interacted with juniors.

We spent some time learning a waiata with Room 17 and showing our junior students the school haka again.

Kahikatea Hub has really enjoyed our catch ups with Room 17. We have formed some great bonds with these junior students.

Week 2 of Term 3

Week 2 was quite busy for Kahikatea Hub.
Our students participated in another soccer taster session. With the two coaches students played mini games of soccer and some other fun mini games. They were encouraged to practice skills such as dribbling and passing.

Each ako whanau group also had two sessions each with Life Education. These sessions were focussed around nutrition. Our students identified the different "food cupboards", compared sugar and salt content in different and looked at our digestive system.

Have a look below at some of photos taken during week 2.
